I guess we’ve all heard the expression ‘Give & ye shall receive’;  it’s a pretty lofty statement  and we know what it means, but how does it relate to everyday life in 2011?   Here are a few thoughts, inspired by many other peoples writings,  and some of my own.

If you want to be understood, try to understand.

If you want help, be a help.

If you want respect, give respect.

If you want to lose someones respect, disrespect them.

If you want your boss to appreciate you, appreciate your boss.

If you want to be ignored, ignore everyone else.

If you want respect from your co-workers, give them respect.

If you want your staff to work hard for you, work hard for them.

If you want to change someones mood, think about changing yours.

If you want to receive praise, give praise.

To see a smile, give a smile.

If you want love, give love.

I hope we can all receive what we want in 2011  🙂

Inspiring people to make the changes they want in their lives, making more changes in my own life, having fun, spending time with my husband and family, spending time with friends, listening to music, laughing, singing, dancing, listening to the birds, sitting by the beach, reaching more goals and a lot more stuff I haven’t even decided yet or am not prepared to tell you about.! 🙂

The Optimist Creed

Originally published by Christian D. Larson in 1912.

Promise Yourself

To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.

To talk health, happiness, and prosperity to every person you meet.

To make all your friends feel that there is something worthwhile in them.

To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.

To think only of the best, to work only for the best and to expect only the best.

To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.

To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.

To wear a cheerful expression at all times and give a smile to every living creature you meet.

To give so much time to improving yourself that you have no time to criticize others.

To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.

To think well of yourself and to proclaim this fact to the world, not in loud word, but in great deeds.

To live in the faith that the whole world is on your side, so long as you are true to the best that is in you.

As I’m sitting in my garden I’m inspired to write about realising how lucky I am.

Lucky that I live on this planet, where the universe has provided so many beautiful things…..

The sound of the birds in the trees, chirping at each other and the sky.
Seeing my cat rolling in the dust and chasing flies.
Feeling the sun on my skin, warming body & soul.
The gentle swaying of the trees, silently watching the world.
The bright colours and gentle shape of the flowers, content just to be.
Knowing that when the sun sets, I have a safe place to sleep, to call my home.
That I will eat well tonight and the next and the next.
The comfort that my universe will help me, if I will only ask.
That I have warmth in my heart, from my family and friends.
That I have the power to change my world and that of others’.

But the gift I most cherish as I sit here and write, is that I am learning to appreciate all the others.
